STREET KIDS

With a heart filled with pain And eyes full of tears I gaze at them Children young and tender Older ones and teenagers Parading and living on the street Starvation and malnutrition Are their very close friends While abuse and robbery Become their means of survival They are countless And with each passing day Their number grows From north, south, east and west They roam in search of 'Greener pasture' Escaping from parental love And guardians' protection They are battered by harsh weather The scorching sun and stormy rains Deal with them without mercy The future of these ones, try to imagine Children who were to bring joy to their parents Have now made the street their abode We seriously need a solution To salvage this situation Alice Asuquo

LOVED ALREADY

Sitting and wishing Thinking and guessing Pondering and wondering Heaveing and sighing Is it really me? No roses sent to me No love letter and poem No one seems to love me Maybe i should have loved wildly Cared more seriously Shared more generously And sacrificed more passionately Hmmm, I'm not loved It's so lonely here No show nor party to attend Meanwhile love is in the air (The thinking continues) But is that all there is to love? You are alive, healthy and hearty You breathe freely everyday That's God's love in action I have loved you with an everlasting love So He says in Jer 31:3 You are loved already Don't be deceived With love from Alice Asuquo
PROCRASTINATION It is a thief of time For it creeps slowly into the mind With tender appeal of rest And captivating thoughts To do today's tasks tomorrow A day not found in the calendar A day that pleases a lazy man Tomorrow never comes For today is the tomorrow You talked about yesterday Time wasted, they say Is irreplaceable And a fraction of a whole life goes With each wasted time Dig a well before you are thirsty Plant a tree before you are hungry  Make that hay while the sun shines To avoid procrastination Let us make a determination To shun unnecessary relaxation Alice Asuquo

TOTAL SUBMISSION

From the depth of sin He called you forth Cos like a sheep, you went astray But as a caring shepherd He brought you to the way Your sins he washed away And your debts He had to pay Crown of thorns He chosed to wear Your very sins He accepted to bear With His life, He paid the price That costly price you lacked to pay Therefore by right of redemption You are His possession You must show full appreciation And live unto God in TOTAL SUBMISSION Alice Asuquo
BEYOND THE SMILES On the face A smile is seen So radiant, colourful and beautiful It's such a lovely curve That can put things straight And change even the worst state But what about the inside? A look beyond the smiles Could reveal heaps of pain Hurts of the past Insecurities of the present And fears for tomorrow A load of smiles Yet worries piles For a long while Just like a million miles In different places We see different faces Different smiles In different styles But look beyond the smiles And save the troubled soul Covered with the mask called SMILE Alice Asuquo

THE DYNAMIC MAN

By and by the journey began Little by little, he became a man It wasn't easy but the race he yet ran To himself, he said 'yes i can' His drive was the passion His life was the mission His wife was the vision Meticulously, he minds his action Knowing there's a mansion Prepared  by God in a divine fashion In the land of the living, God is his portion To every detail he pays attention Yet he cares for nothing, not even a mouse Wherever he goes, he needs not announce Self control, he takes from the house That's why those on skirts and blouse His emotions, they wont arouse Year by year he becomes better Equipped to accomplish the latter The reason for living, in his heart lies the matter He's a brother in need Young, yet a father in deed A master, he takes the lead In due season, he sows his seed Out of his belly, flows a river Living water that flows forever As the boys would say 'he's got the liver' Dine and wine he would...

BARE-FEET TO HIGH HEELS

With speed like that of a thunder clap The din of soft little bare-feet Veered into sounds of sharp high heels hmmm, she's growing into a woman With tempo likened to that of a lightening bolt She's now grown from pampers Into puberty, now with sanitary pads Yeah! she's welcome to the world of womanhood With speed like that of light She's dispatched from the train of childhood Now struggling with self-discovery in adulthood Indeed these are grand steps into womanhood From a wild, mischievous and shabby look Into a face adorned with cosmetics and youthful radiance The outside beauty is sure but the inside Why am i who i am? she ponders Why do i feel vulnerable and incomplete, she ponders Or am i just a beautiful container made by my maker? Maybe  i was coupled with a purpose and and qualities altogether A woman like Rebecca i can be Cos though pretty yet lived a life of purity Not like our beautiful Racheal Oh! very attractive but yet futive A...
