JUST BEGIN

Right inside our hearts In a corner of our minds Deep inside our thoughts Beautiful and breath-taking ideas exist Wonderful pieces of art works Future best selling books Unsung hit tracks Amazing fashion sense International-standard technologies World-class business ideas leadership strategies To mention but a few Again and again,we let these thoughts waste In the ignorance of our minds We seemingly wait For the best time to act Why not do it now Tomorrow may never come Just begin now You maybe remembered for that only After you are gone Begin I say..... JUST BEGIN (Dedicated to all those who have beautiful dreams) Alice Asuquo

FRIEND OR FIEND?

In different shapes and sizes, they come Some to make and some to break Some to mend and some to bend Like elevators, Some take you up while some bring you down Some bring problems while some bring solutions There are friends that come in season And maybe for a reason Fair weather friends is what they are A friend sticks closer than a brother So says the holy book A friend will stay to the end, no matter the bend or change in trend beware of fake friends, they are FIENDS Alice Asuquo

NIGERIA PRAYS

For the storms we see The insurgency in the north The insecurity in the south the chaos in the east and The calamities in the west Lord, we need your peace The nation weeps profusely As d blood of innocent citizens Get spilled ceaselessly The bombings and abductions especially Tears various families apart Leaving pains in many hearts Lord, we seek your peace As a hart longs for flowing streams Nigeria thirsts for peace Rain down your peace upon our nation To calm the storms in our states Joy to our people Healing to our hearts And restoration to our land Dear Lord, Nigeria prays for peace ALICE ASUQUO

YOUR NAME, HIS TATTOO

YOUR NAME, HIS TATTOO Like words chiseled on a stone Visible and indellible Bold, not to be told But seen by Him The raging winds Even the turbulent storms And the very dry seasons Tamper not with these words Its not written in ink Neither coal nor paint It's a special tattoo And the only of it's kind That tattoo is your name Written in God's palms ...See I have tattooed your name upon my palm... Isa 49:16a Alice Asuquo

STREET KIDS

With a heart filled with pain And eyes full of tears I gaze at them Children young and tender Older ones and teenagers Parading and living on the street Starvation and malnutrition Are their very close friends While abuse and robbery Become their means of survival They are countless And with each passing day Their number grows From north, south, east and west They roam in search of 'Greener pasture' Escaping from parental love And guardians' protection They are battered by harsh weather The scorching sun and stormy rains Deal with them without mercy The future of these ones, try to imagine Children who were to bring joy to their parents Have now made the street their abode We seriously need a solution To salvage this situation Alice Asuquo

LOVED ALREADY

Sitting and wishing Thinking and guessing Pondering and wondering Heaveing and sighing Is it really me? No roses sent to me No love letter and poem No one seems to love me Maybe i should have loved wildly Cared more seriously Shared more generously And sacrificed more passionately Hmmm, I'm not loved It's so lonely here No show nor party to attend Meanwhile love is in the air (The thinking continues) But is that all there is to love? You are alive, healthy and hearty You breathe freely everyday That's God's love in action I have loved you with an everlasting love So He says in Jer 31:3 You are loved already Don't be deceived With love from Alice Asuquo
PROCRASTINATION It is a thief of time For it creeps slowly into the mind With tender appeal of rest And captivating thoughts To do today's tasks tomorrow A day not found in the calendar A day that pleases a lazy man Tomorrow never comes For today is the tomorrow You talked about yesterday Time wasted, they say Is irreplaceable And a fraction of a whole life goes With each wasted time Dig a well before you are thirsty Plant a tree before you are hungry  Make that hay while the sun shines To avoid procrastination Let us make a determination To shun unnecessary relaxation Alice Asuquo
