HANDLING DEPRESSION

Depression in psychotherapy and psychiatry, is a state of mind producing serious long-term lowering of enjoyment of life or inability to visualize a happy future. It is also a period of unhappiness or low morale which lasts longer than several weeks and may include ideation of self-inflicted injury or suicide.
Although the exact cause is not known, anyone can develop depression. It could be from relationship problem, bereavement redundancy, financial problems, health issues etc.
Depressed people are prone to suicide, mental illness, drug abuse, sexual abuse, low self esteem amongst others.
   There are different causes of depression so the ways of handling it varies too. I hereby suggest the following points;
1. Admit that you need help.
2. Get a friend you can talk to. It is often said that a problem shared is half solved.
3. Engage in something that drives your passion. These includes your gifts and talents.
 4. Read books because reading brings knowledge. Don't fail to read your Bible too.
5. Watch TV and listen to radio. Information is very vital. 'Depression' could just be the topic on air or something similar to your situation.
6. Eat regularly even if you have lost appetite.
7. Do not make hasty decisions. Some people decide to commit suicide, please avoid it!
8. Do not resort to drinking alcohol.
9. Visit a doctor or counselor.
10. Pray to God, prayers move mountains. A preacher once said that 'if there are people to pray, there is a God to answer'. With God, all things are possible...( Luke 1:37)
Yes dear, you can overcome depression, it's possible!

THINK OF THIS

How good is a house if its not a home How good is a tree if it bears no fruits How good is a garden if it has no flowers How good is a clock if it cant tell the time How good is are friends if they cant care and share How good are eyes if they cant be used for sight How good are ears if they cant be used for hearing How good is a nose that cant be used for breathing How good are legs if they cant be used for locomotion How good is a mirror that cant reflect images How good is a phone that cant be used for calls How good is a heart that cant pump blood How good is a book that cant be read How good is a youth without a dream and How good if your life if you are not living for Christ Remember a life without Christ is a life in crisis written by Alice Asuquo

BARE-FEET TO HIGH HEELS

With speed like that of a thunder clap The din of soft little bare-feet Veered into sounds of sharp high heels hmmm, she's growing into a woman With tempo likened to that of a lightening bolt She's now grown from pampers Into puberty, now with sanitary pads Yeah! she's welcome to the world of womanhood With speed like that of light She's dispatched from the train of childhood Now struggling with self-discovery in adulthood Indeed these are grand steps into womanhood From a wild, mischievous and shabby look Into a face adorned with cosmetics and youthful radiance The outside beauty is sure but the inside Why am i who i am? she ponders Why do i feel vulnerable and incomplete, she ponders Or am i just a beautiful container made by my maker? Maybe  i was coupled with a purpose and and qualities altogether A woman like Rebecca i can be Cos though pretty yet lived a life of purity Not like our beautiful Racheal Oh! very attractive but yet futive A...

SEASONS

At morning The cock crew Announcing a new day Time to wake Time to learn Time to grow In a twinkle of an eye The afternoon came by The sun shone brightly Time to work Time to earn Time to put learning into practice Tick tock went the clock And the night showed up Oh night! A time to rest And time to reap What have I achieved? I asked myself The light of the sun, moon and stars Are all gone dim before my eyes What a seasonal change! My once strong arms are trembling My legs are now weak My teeth are now few Even the sounds i used to enjoy I hear them no more My hair has turned white Like almond blossoms Oh! i'm soon going to my final resting place But rejoice thou young man You are yet in your morning season Be strong, learn and work For the night cometh When no man can work Alice Asuquo
