HANDLING DEPRESSION

Depression in psychotherapy and psychiatry, is a state of mind producing serious long-term lowering of enjoyment of life or inability to visualize a happy future. It is also a period of unhappiness or low morale which lasts longer than several weeks and may include ideation of self-inflicted injury or suicide.
Although the exact cause is not known, anyone can develop depression. It could be from relationship problem, bereavement redundancy, financial problems, health issues etc.
Depressed people are prone to suicide, mental illness, drug abuse, sexual abuse, low self esteem amongst others.
   There are different causes of depression so the ways of handling it varies too. I hereby suggest the following points;
1. Admit that you need help.
2. Get a friend you can talk to. It is often said that a problem shared is half solved.
3. Engage in something that drives your passion. These includes your gifts and talents.
 4. Read books because reading brings knowledge. Don't fail to read your Bible too.
5. Watch TV and listen to radio. Information is very vital. 'Depression' could just be the topic on air or something similar to your situation.
6. Eat regularly even if you have lost appetite.
7. Do not make hasty decisions. Some people decide to commit suicide, please avoid it!
8. Do not resort to drinking alcohol.
9. Visit a doctor or counselor.
10. Pray to God, prayers move mountains. A preacher once said that 'if there are people to pray, there is a God to answer'. With God, all things are possible...( Luke 1:37)
Yes dear, you can overcome depression, it's possible!

THINK OF THIS

How good is a house if its not a home How good is a tree if it bears no fruits How good is a garden if it has no flowers How good is a clock if it cant tell the time How good is are friends if they cant care and share How good are eyes if they cant be used for sight How good are ears if they cant be used for hearing How good is a nose that cant be used for breathing How good are legs if they cant be used for locomotion How good is a mirror that cant reflect images How good is a phone that cant be used for calls How good is a heart that cant pump blood How good is a book that cant be read How good is a youth without a dream and How good if your life if you are not living for Christ Remember a life without Christ is a life in crisis written by Alice Asuquo

THE PRESENCE OF LOVE

When you are in love with someone, a walk in the rain becomes a welcomed chance to share an umbrella. An unexpected snow-storm provides the setting for a quiet afternoon snuggled in front of the fireplace together. What could be bad times are good when you are with the one you love. In the same way, a growing relationship with God and appreciation for His presence beside you can give you a whole new outlook on life's storms. From a short-lived cloudburst to a long and difficult winter, adversity offers yet another occassion to draw closer to the Lord you love - and who loves you even more. Nothing can happen to you that could be too small for this protective hands or big. Nothing you will ever face could be too serious, too difficult or too lasting to keep the warmth and closeness of his comfort away from your heart. When you are in love with someone, suddenly nothing matters quite so much as the fact that you are with your beloved and your beloved is with you.... SOS 6:3 ...

A mother's love

Its a love so divine and true A mother's love cannot be compared to another It is as sweet as honey... A taste that remains palatable Throughout a lifetime Her love is as warm as wool She goes through the hustle and bustle To ensure that life for her child is pretty cool As steady as a rock Mother's love remains unchanged Amidst faults and wrongs of her child She forgives A mother's love is as gentle as a dove She's always there with a dose of love Mother remains patient as Job Through the thick  and thin Even the highs and lows Quietly  teaching  and  correcting  in love For the hope she has ...
