STACCATO

I hear your cries
A thousand voices loud
You laugh in mockery of your wounded prey
Swift like a meteor from yonder
Your victim hits the ground
Before he sees you coming

Your touch is unforgiving
Revealing the contents of the bowel
Your kiss is remorseless
Bursting open the temples
Your embrace, cold
Like the python's romance
The heat of many fires

This soil is soiled red
Blood of the inumerable slain
You are drunk to stupor
You can't get over the deadly hangover
Yet you're not satisfied

You are the beast that consumes it's master
Untameable, elusive, ravenous
Your staccato deafens the soul, disorients the mind
Littering the streets with minced flesh and scattered toes

The trigger has been pulled
A beast released from its chambers
Catching the worm like an early bird
Too late to return home
