STREET KIDS

With a heart filled with pain And eyes full of tears I gaze at them Children young and tender Older ones and teenagers Parading and living on the street Starvation and malnutrition Are their very close friends While abuse and robbery Become their means of survival They are countless And with each passing day Their number grows From north, south, east and west They roam in search of 'Greener pasture' Escaping from parental love And guardians' protection They are battered by harsh weather The scorching sun and stormy rains Deal with them without mercy The future of these ones, try to imagine Children who were to bring joy to their parents Have now made the street their abode We seriously need a solution To salvage this situation Alice Asuquo

LOVED ALREADY

Sitting and wishing Thinking and guessing Pondering and wondering Heaveing and sighing Is it really me? No roses sent to me No love letter and poem No one seems to love me Maybe i should have loved wildly Cared more seriously Shared more generously And sacrificed more passionately Hmmm, I'm not loved It's so lonely here No show nor party to attend Meanwhile love is in the air (The thinking continues) But is that all there is to love? You are alive, healthy and hearty You breathe freely everyday That's God's love in action I have loved you with an everlasting love So He says in Jer 31:3 You are loved already Don't be deceived With love from Alice Asuquo
PROCRASTINATION It is a thief of time For it creeps slowly into the mind With tender appeal of rest And captivating thoughts To do today's tasks tomorrow A day not found in the calendar A day that pleases a lazy man Tomorrow never comes For today is the tomorrow You talked about yesterday Time wasted, they say Is irreplaceable And a fraction of a whole life goes With each wasted time Dig a well before you are thirsty Plant a tree before you are hungry  Make that hay while the sun shines To avoid procrastination Let us make a determination To shun unnecessary relaxation Alice Asuquo
