Decision

Here's a decision she had to make With a step to take To stop just reading And also start writing She said no to fear And moved with a fast gear For the words that laid unexpressed Needed to gain expression From her thoughts to the world. -Alice Asuquo #AbWPE #WednesdayMotivation #poetry

YOUR BEST LIFE NOW

I feel it's pertinent to share these lessons with you dear reader. They are life's lessons you can learn from and practice easily from the book 'Your best life now' written by Joel Osteen, one of my best pastors and author.    From the book, I learnt that your journey to a brighter future begins with these 7 steps; 1. Enlarge your vision: You must conceive it in your mind before you can receive it in your hand. Matt 9:17, Isa 43:19.  *Expect things to change for your favor for God always meets you at the level of your expectancy. * if you can visualize it with your heart and mind, seeing it through the screen of God's word with your spiritual eyes, it can become a reality in your life. 2. Develop a healthy self image: What do you think you are? You will never rise above the image you have for yourself in your mind. In life, you'll surely become what you believe Matt 9:27-29 3. Discover the power of your thoughts and words. The mind is like a magnet it can

ABOUT WRITING ON WEDNESDAYS

I am one person who really enjoys impromptu inking sessions,  I think my love for it stems from the fact that I've received two awards from impromptu writing competitions.      This makes me look forward to Wednesdays when @AfroBloggers will drop a prompt and call out African writers to write instantly about any picture he shares for the day. It's always a thrilling moment when we get to savour the sweetness of poetry from various shades of creativity and the fun it comes with.        There are times when I feel so lazy to write but once it's Wednesday, I try to pick up my pen and scribble some lines. Here's the latest. I wrote two actually... Which do you prefer?  The propmt Poem 1                       Poem 2 Feel free to add yours too and follow me @Alicespringz01 on Twitter. Also do well to follow @Afrobloggers and join us on our writing party every Wednesday. Thanks for reading!!! Alice Asuquo

THE BEAUTIFUL SIDE OF SCARS

THE BEAUTIFUL SIDE OF SCARS    Someone will begin to ponder and wonder, 'what is beautiful about this scar of mine, this very scar I try to hide ?' I know they mostly appear ugly with lots of unpleasant memories. Apart from those ones on the skin, there are emotional scars that also hurt whenever the memories come to mind. We dare not talk about them because they do make us feel bad, unworthy and pained.      The truth is, we have dwelt on these thoughts for too long, let's move to the other side.... ~ The scars you see are a proof of healing. Without  healing, there will be no scar. That scar can serve as a testimony that God heals. ~ For every scar, there is a story to tell and there's something about stories... they inspire people, making them learn a thing or more. ~ Scars have a way of giving caution to people. It keeps reminding you not to make the same mistake or take the same step. ~It can birth purpose: When you see people who are in pains or struggling with th

2020 BRIDE

2020 Bride👰 You might not be one. You might not even get to wear an engagement band or meet the one for you. In fact you might even experience a break up as you realize the one currently with you is not the one for you. You might not have one. You might not get to walk her down the aisle or even meet the one you would like to marry. 2020 sounds so sweet and rhymes perfectly to the ears but beyond that, they'll be lots of weddings and so many 2020 brides.. if you're like me, you've already seen more than a handful of "Save the date". Don't fall into undue pressure. Don't forget the truth you know about who you are and how your worth isn't dependent on societal norms and timelines. You might be tempted to feel set aside but remember that sometimes what we call "Set aside" is actually a "Set apart" for God's greater purpose and grandiose plans to be fulfilled in our lives. As you sail through 2020. Brace yourself u
"Wait! She's not married at her age? Then why is she so happy??" "They're yet to have children? I can imagine the secret fights and unhappiness in their marriage. I wonder if they actually enjoy sex any longer seeing it has not yielded any fruits" _ How many times have we put others in a box of our life's expectancy and judged their happiness based on our skewed idea of what a happy life should consist of? And how many times have we let society define the boundaries of our joy, determine the clock-time of our lives and set timelines for our achievements? Leaving us weak, scared and discouraged over situations that are beyond our control. Yes, maybe you had a thousand abortions but consider that there are virgins treating infertility issues and prostitutes who get pregnant yearly. It doesn't all depend on your past sins. If God forgave you, you stand forgiven and whole. Wombs get restored, uterine temperatures and hormonal imbalances are no
