SHINE YOUR LIGHT

In the midst of thick darkness A single glow cant go unseen for it shines in darkness And darkness flees When light shines Great joy arrives Hope is rekindled And despair fades away You are the light A city set on a hill You have no place to hide Get ignited and ignite others To the dark world, you are light Shine bright with all your might Reinforce and shine Christ, your light is your guide When you let your light shine To all, you'll bring delight The paths of others will be bright Helping them to achieve their destiny without plight Keep shinning, keep sparkling... DONT GIVE UP

We are in the month of September already! Happy New Month!!! So we have spent two-third of the year.... Anyway, time flies! At the beginning of the year, most of us made new year resolutions with so many plans. Have you been able to achieve them? How far have you gone? If you haven't, don't feel too bad... I have a message of hope for you.... DON'T GIVE UP Maybe the dreams are so big... truth is that you must dream big so don't let that aspect bother you. Commit it to God and break it into little steps that you can easily do each day. Before the end of the year most of them will be fulfilled but no matter what, keep trusting God and don't give up. Someone said that "When you give up when its winter, you'll miss the promise of spring, the beauty of summer and the fulfillment of fall".   Alice  Asuquo

COME AND SEE

COME AND SEE             Miss Asari walked into a class and announced that she was pleased with the students’ performance in their last test and also delighted that someone special scored the highest. Rosemary was blushing because she was the best in the previous one, other bright students were anxious to hear if their names will be mentioned. However, the teacher shouted “Atim, stand up!”  The students laughed and said to each other... “this one wrote nonsense, she can’t amount to anything good”.  Atim felt so bad but a bit hopeful because she knew that  she had began to study real hard. Suddenly, the teacher said, “class, this is the best student in the test you all wrote”.             Sadly, we are living in a world where people find it so easy to laugh at others and pass judgement on other people’s destiny. God created everyone unique with special talents and potentials. God never created a failure. After creation, He saw that everything was good. You are good enough.

OUR ENVIRONMENT

This is a poem I wrote in an impromptu inking session. It was rated the best. Its all about.................. OUR ENVIRONMENT A natural world Filled with beauty From the high soaring mountains To the rivers and plains Beauty is all I see The melodious songs from the birds The chirpings from insects The music of rain And the droplets of snow Oh! the beautiful sun It lights the entire world Gives warmth and happiness Adding colour to the environment The environment is filled with wonders Eyes can see The mouth can tell And our senses call all testify ALICE ASUQUO

FLY

When the night is darkest The dawn of day is breaking Fly... Fly into new beginings Fly into the road least travelled For some have discovered gold therein for the days are long but few Fly and keep flying For the end comes slowly and unannounced The miracle of the sky is yours to hold If you will just fly Then you can reach for the sun One more step has ushered The ordinary into the corridor of destiny Fly... If we wait for fair weather Our wings may be crippled Fly against the wind and the storm Take the winds of mercy and fly For even the broken wings can Be mended by the healing balm of grace Fly beyond the status quo And the limits they have set Whether it be sunny or rainy Fly... For endless possibilities lie beyond the limit Generations will be affected by your flight Fly, don't look back, don't give up Keep flying Like the eagles, keep flying. Mfoniso Urua

ABOUT LOVE

The cute guy came around and smiled at you, such that made your heart melt right inside of you and then he said Ï love you". The feeling was just indescribable, in fact you felt the whole world was revolving around you. He told you that you were the true definition of perfection and he couldn't live without you...   Yes, he may have loved you, but was it really love or ??? I don't think it was love because I learnt that you cant really love someone whose assets and liabilities you cant define. Ok... you looked good; your Brazillian hair, glittering dinner dress, diamond jewelleries, flawless make-up, beautiful shoes and irresistible cologne fragrance were all in tact.   He was attracted and carried away. You thought it was going to last forever...... Just after a while, he stops calling, ignores your calls, becomes too busy and gives countless excuses. It hurts, obviously true. It can actually make you feel less about yourself but here is God whispering in your e

TELL ME SWEET SOMETHING

Unfailing, unchanging Dependable, reliable, constant In our unfaithfulness He remains faithful as he cannot deny himself Faithful is just who he is Tell me sweet something He is our refuge and strength A very present, very sufficient, Very on time help in times of trouble Tell me sweet something That He loves you cannot be denied Adorned you with beauty for his glory Tell me sweet something In his awesomeness he picked Esther, an orphan girl And set her up for the palace Tell me sweet something Choosing the foolish things of the world To confound the mighty Tell me sweet something Though the sun kisses the earth And raindrops pour down like fire He still remains the same Tell me sweet something He can give you a message From the ashes of your mess  Unspeakable joy for every pain Tell me sweet something You are loved You are forgiven Tell me sweet something Mfoniso Urua

HE WILL STILL BE THERE

There is a special kind of happiness that comes when you step into a new year. The happiness even increases when you know that you have a God who is always by your side. Since this is my first post for the year, I dedicate this poem to you and to me because its my birthday........ HE WILL STILL BE THERE When the storms of life blew He was there When the ocean billowed He was there The floods came rushing in And the rivers overflowed their banks God was there Through the thick and the thin Even the highs and the lows God was still there Yesterday, today and always He remains the same He was there, He is still there And I know, even in the years ahead..... He will still be there Happy new year and Happy birthday to me!!! Alice Asuquo
