FOR THE SECURITY OF HIS COUNTRY

Many were called
Few were chosen
Few whose hearts have become frozen
Losing it's frail, hardened, brazen

At the command, he moves
Without thinking
Acts without asking
And stands without moving

Only a few survive the bruising
Of drills, camps, guards, rifle greasing
Regimentation and it's trouble
Ever increasing

He trained to fire without missing
Fight without tiring
And advance without withdrawing

There's no giving up, no giving in
Until 'Mission Accomplished'
There's no easing
He's risen before the sun is risen
For no reason

The soldier's loyalty is never ending
In peace and war time, he's defending
The security of his nation
Has become his personal burden

(Dedicated to those in the military and para-military)

Dreams

Myriad of thoughts Running through your mind A dream of a beautiful and colourful future An irony of the present bleak and black situation Is it feasible or attainable? You ponder and wonder Just because you can't see something Doesn't mean it isn't there Keep your dreams alive!!  ~Alice Asuquo

Fire + Ice
